I recommend that any SEO effort should take place in three stages:

1) Investigation

2) Implementation

3) Ongoing

Investigation involves getting to know the client’s business, the sector that they operate within and their competitors. Then a collection of profitable keyphrases and a projection required budget can be determined for the SEO project.

Implementation In the stage, the deficiencies of the website are addressed (many SEO’s describe this has “Onpage SEO”). This does not, however, merely involve change the existing web pages but may also involve add new pages or even altering the whole platform that the website has been developed using.

Ongoing This stage is very important and includes a process known as backlink building as well as iteratively revisiting the Investestigation and Impementation phases.
